Super Eagles’ captain, Ahmed Musa has snubbed a lucrative offer that could have seen him join a top club in United States of America’s Major League Soccer (MLS), as he us holding out for a deal in Europe.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, although he has been club hunting since he left Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia by mutual consent almost five months ago, Musa is apparently not in a hurry to jump at any offer that comes his way.
Consequently, the fleet-footed attacker, who also recently turned his back on a deal in China, has opted out of a move Stateside, as the former Kano Pillars, VV Van Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England star is awaiting a deal in Europe.
A report by SCORENigeria adds that Musa turned down a chance to play in the MLS because the 28-year-old star believes he can still get a major contract in Europe, even as he remains a free agent after shredding ties with Al-Nassr halfway through a four-year contract.
The soft-spoken star, who is Nigeria’s highest scorer in World Cup history, with two goals apiece at both Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, is five caps from reaching a century of appearances for the Super Eagles, such that he still holds an attractive record with club and country.
That has seen him linked with a number of clubs in Asia and Europe, especially in the English Premier League and Galatasaray of Turkey, hence his confidence of hooking a deal somewhere in Europe this coming month, rather than rush off to God’s own Country.
A source close to Musa told SCORENigeria: “The MLS offer was good, but he said he would rather wait for something from Europe.”
