Super Eagles’ captain, Ahmed Musa will no longer move to West Bromwich Albion of England this month, following the club’s inability to accept his personal demands and wage bill, megasportsarena.com reports.
In contrast with initial reports that the former Kano Pillars, VV Van Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia, Leicester City of England and Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker was close to reaching an agreement, the reverse has turned out to be the case.
This means Eagles’ defender, Semi Ajayi will no longer have the pleasure of welcoming his national team skipper to The Hawthorns, where he was earlier expected to rehash the Nigerian combo that has since Nwankwo Kanu, Ifesanyi Udeze, Aide Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe play for The Baggies as well.
Although Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr enthused at the start of this week that a deal would soon be sealed with Albion by his captain, a report by allnigeriasoccer.com has disclosed otherwise, as the portal revealed a length: “Ahmed Musa’s proposed transfer to English Premier League strugglers West Brom is off.
“The Nigeria captain passed a fitness test under the supervision of the Baggies sports science and performance team at the training center in Walsall last Thursday, which would have paved the way for the striker to sign a short-term contract with the club, all things being equal.
“West Brom have a limited transfer budget and the owners have refused to dip into their pockets to fund the signing of Musa, thereby throwing a spanner in the works. The representatives of the former CSKA Moscow star gave a deadline to West Brom to complete the transfer of Musa and it has now expired, so both parties have pulled the plug on the deal.
“The 28-year-old is exploring other options before making a decision on his next career move. Musa has been on the lookout for a new club since he mutually terminated his lucrative contract with Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al-Nassr last October.”
